Orbit College under the mentorship of Coach Pogiso Mahoye have done the seemingly impossible by winning the post season Promotion Playoffs and earning promotion to the Betway Premiership.
The Rustenburg side who were only promoted to the Motsepe Foundation Championship at the end of the 2022/23 season, finished 9th in the first season in the professional ranks. A second placed finish in their second season saw Orbit qualify for the Playoffs along with 3rd placed MFC outfit Casric Stars and 15th placed Betway Premiership side Cape Town City. Orbit Drew their opening tow matches of the post season, but beat Casric Stars 1 – 0 in Kwa Mahlanga and then saw off the challenge of CT City by the same scoreline t Olympia Park to clinch their spot in South Africa’s big league.
The last time Premiership football was played in Rustenburg was in the 2017/18 season when Platinum Stars finished bottom of the log and were relegated to the NFD. Now, 7 seasons later Orbit College will carry the hopes of the people of the North West Province who will relish is seeing Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates, Kaizer Chiefs, Stellenbosch FC and the rest of the Betway Premiership sides playing in front of their very eyes.
